| Hi, Quinnipiac's newest poll shows us running neck-and-neck with Ken Cuccinelli — we're up 44-41, but that's within the statistical margin of error. It's no surprise things are close with the amount of money right-wing Super PACs are pouring into the Commonwealth to tear down Terry. I know we're going to pull this off with your support, so please read Terry's update email below — then chip in $5 to make sure we hit our critical Rapid Response goal. It's incredible, friend, but it's true.
We could be outspent in this race. Even though we've built a grassroots movement that is undeniably bigger than Ken Cuccinelli's, my opponent is breaking out the 2012 Tea Party playbook. And it could work this time. In the past two weeks, three right-wing Super PACs have announced six-figure ad buys to smear me. That's on top of the $6.8 million the RGA has already spent against us. And with new polls showing that this race is still neck-and-neck, our response to their attacks in the next few weeks is absolutely critical. We need to raise $200,000 towards our Rapid Response Fund before the end of the month to keep up with these Tea Party Super PACs. Will you donate $5 right now and get us started? One of the three Super PACs is funded by Joe Ricketts — you might remember he dropped at least $12 million of his own money to attack President Obama last year. And you've certainly heard of Citizens United — the group who ushered in the Super PAC era in the first place. But you probably haven't heard of the third group, called Fight For Tomorrow. This brand new group was created, it seems, with the sole intent of propping up Ken Cuccinelli and attacking us. And these three groups are just from the last two weeks. Who knows which other groups of Tea Party donors will decide they want in on the action next week? But while they may be able to outspend us, we still have momentum on our side. And if people like you keep supporting me like you have so far, we'll win this thing. Donate $5 right now to help me keep pace and reach my September Rapid Response Fund Goal. Cuccinelli's using the same playbook the Tea Party did last year, but I've got the same one Democrats used to great success in Virginia and across the country: the grassroots support of friends like you. Thanks, Terry |
